I am adjusting to life in a new town as a new mom- nothing like giving birth and moving across the country in a two-week span to teach you what chaos really means!

That's what I get for bragging...

The Wee One (seen here in a hand-me-down of my old pajamas) has not repeated her full night of sleep. Not only that, but her sleep habits are getting more and more messed up. For the past couple nights, I haven't been able to put her down before 10:30 or so. Last night, she slept from 10:30 to 5 (good) then was awake from 5 to 7 (bad, very very bad), then she and I napped intermittently from 7 to 11. I'm glad that she went back to sleep, and I'm glad I got to sleep, but it's a little hard to get anything done with your day when you don't really get going until noon.

I'm going home to Washington on Saturday for 10 days, which will be a 2-hour time change, so I don't think it's worth the effort to try to fix her schedule before then. Schedule? Who am I kidding? Her schedule is eat on demand, sleep on demand. I really don't know how I'd fix it, apart from inflicting physical pain to keep her awake, which is not an option I'm willing to consider. And a tired, awake baby equals lots and lots of crying. And Hannah gets pretty upset, too.

Speaking of crying, we may have found a partial cure to the nightly screams. We tried the "football hold," with pretty good success:

Ok, she's not asleep (not even remotely), but she's not screaming, either. We consider that a win.

In other news, one of the neighbor girls knitted Hannah an adorable hat! She said it was the first hat she'd ever made. I doubt it will fit Hannah's melon when the weather is finally cold enough to need it, but it sure is cute!

She is such a doll!! I'm so sorry the sleeping is hard. I totally can feel your pain. Sleep is so crazy and hard. If it makes you feel better most "experts" say that sleep doesn't get organized until 6 to 8 weeks of life...Or, in Ev's case, maybe 4 or 5 years old?? ;) I miss you!

I'm so sorry I'm missing you guys in Reardan. I would've loved to have seen her. She is looking so big already...it's amazing how short the "newborn" phase is. I can't give you any good advice to help her sleep...Eddie slept yesterday from 4:30pm - midnight and has been up since. So, at 3, he's still messed up! :-) Luckily, CC had a good stretch from 10:30 - 2 and then 3-6. Miss ya, Em
